School Tour Program Listings The Train Ride Only Program offers participants a train ride lasting approximately 40 minutes. As such, it is suitable for all ages. Classes meet at the Central Pacific Freight Depot for a train ride that follows the tracks of the Museum's historic Sacramento Southern Railroad, along the Sacramento River's levees. Knowledgeable, on-board Docents tell students about train travel during the 1920s. While the Emigrant Train Program tour through the Central Pacific Railroad Passenger Station (which is followed by a train ride) is suitable for Grades 4 through 6 only, the Train Ride Only Program is suitable for all ages. The Train Ride Only Program begins its spring 2010 season on Tuesday, March 2, and will run Tuesdays and Fridays only through May 14. Times for the train rides are 10 a.m., 11 a.m., and 1:30 p.m. Cost for the Train Ride Only Program is $3 per person. Children under 5 ride free, and as always, teachers participate for free. Reservations are required. Please contact ReserveAmerica toll-free at (866) 240-4655 to make your reservation. For additional information about the Program, please contact the Group information Desk @ (916) 323-9274. |
