Never-before displayed Buddy "L" Toys will be showcased along with a new operating train set and assorted artifacts.

Museum staff will read a different railroad-related children's story each month and afterward, little ones can enjoy the Musuem with their parents.

Ride behind WP 913 and SP 6051, two of our classic streamlined locomotives. Hourly departures, 11am to 4 pm.

Fascinated by railroading history? Interested in working with trains? If you want to learn more about becoming a volunteer, stop by the Stanford Gallery (building next to the Museum) and check out the many volunteer opportunities the Museum has to offer.

Special Author Presentation and Book Signing 
Wednesday, September 16
2:00 p.m.
Voices from the Bottom of the South China Sea is a compelling and illustrated non-fiction book by Robert Wells.  Based on lost records that were recently discovered and pieced together by the author, the historical book captures the lives of the Chinese passengers when they spent years laboring in California building the railroad, mining silver, growing food, and seeking their fortune.   

Farm-to-Fork Cocktail Train Ride
Sunday, September 27

As part of Farm-to-Fork week, experience what First Class wsa like during the early decades of the 20th century.  Enjoy locally prepared appetizers and beverages prepared by renowned Chef Jay Veregge from Ten22.

Tuesday Train Rides

As an expansion of the weekday train ride program for local school groups, the Museum is now offering excursion train rides to the general public on select Tuesdays. Weekday train ride tickets are only available in person on a first-come, first-served basis at 10:30 a.m. the day of the train ride at the Sacramento Southern Railroad ticket office.

Small Train Holiday

See a variety of locomotives that pull pretend passengers and scaled-down shipments through all kinds of scenery, whether modeled on real places or created in the imaginations of devoted collectors. You will also get to enjoy Handcar rides, scavenger hunt and more.
