A dramatic exhibit area inside the Railroad Museum, the Sierra Scene can accommodate events of up to 40 persons (seated) or 60 (standing). The Sierra Scene features towering "mountains" depicting a railroad construction scene in the Sierra Nevada, with a vintage steam locomotive as its centerpiece.

Proceeds from facilities rentals support exhibits and programs of the California State Railroad Museum. Operated by California State Parks with assistance from the CSRM Foundation, the California State Railroad Museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. except Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day.
