 The California State Railroad Museum complex is located within Old Sacramento State Historic Park. This park is a portion of the Old Sacramento Historic District, all of which has been designated a National Landmark. The history of Old Sacramento is a fascinating story that goes all the way back to the earliest years of the California Gold Rush. In keeping with this history, California State Parks owns and operates a number of original and reconstructed buildings as part of Old Sacramento State Historic Park.
