Winter In The Blue Mountains: Union Pacific's Three Oregon Grade

Visit beautiful Oregon and Union Pacific's three heavy mainline grades through the Blue Mountains! In this program, you'll start at the Snake River and the Idaho state line, traveling over the mountains to Pendleton.

Along the way, you'll see trains crossing three steep mainline grades, Encina Hill, Telocaset Hill, and Kamela Hill.

This is Union Pacific's main route to the Pacific Northwest, and you'll see everything from locals to manifests to doublestack intermodals. This program was shot in late February, and the weather was unpredictable. One moment bright sunshine, the next heavy snow!
